Help Connect Transit support community safety and security

You can join Connect Public Transit District by participating in the Transit Watch* campaign. Employees, passengers and residents alike can stay alert and work together to maintain a safe community and transit environment. If you see something unusual or potentially dangerous, please report it immediately to local law enforcement or the Connect office at 435-752-2877

How you can support Transit Watch

  • Be observant, alert, and aware.
  • Take the initiative and become the transit community’s eyes and ears.
  • Look out for one another so we can all have a safe ride.
  • Contact Connect offices or the Transit Center Police if something doesn’t seem right.

Be on the alert for suspicious behavior

  • Visible signs of nervousness
  • Excessive sweating
  • Nearby individuals showing signs of illness or distress
  • Clothing that is excessively baggy or too heavy in warm weather

Be on the alert for suspicious packages

  • Package placement in an odd location
  • Individuals abandoning a package
  • Batteries, wires, tanks, bottles or bagsthat may contain chemicals
  • Packages with an attached message
  • A suspicious cloud, mist, gas, odor or seeping fluid

Follow a plan of action

  • Do not confront suspicious individuals; contact a transit employee or the police.
  • In the event of a suspicious package, do not use a cellular phone nearby.
  • Familiarize yourself with transit entrances and exits.
  • Follow transit authority instructions in a speedy but orderly fashion.
  • Do not block bus doors from closing.
  • Remain calm and listen for announcements.
  • Follow the Golden Rule and assist fellow passengers.

Transit Watch was developed by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration (FTA) in partnership with the American Public Transportation Association of America (APTA), the Community Transportation Association of America (CTAA), the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU), and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
